攤鋪前應做好的準備工作首先是熨平板的預熱和保溫：

（1）作業前20～40min，應對熨平板進行預熱，使其接近混合料的溫度；
（2）因故停止作業時，需使用預熱系統進行保溫，防止熨平板冷卻；
（3）用燃氣進行預熱熨平板時，應注意控制熱量，防止局部過熱而使熨平板變形。加熱時，應采用間歇燃燒多次加熱操作法，使其靠自身熱傳導均勻預熱。有熱風循環系統的，可采用點火燃燒和熄火熱風循環交替進行加熱。無論采用何種方式，每次點燃時間均不得大于10min；
（4）沒有燃燒加熱裝置的，應逐個分別點燃@700618；
（5）預熱時，要加強對燃燒情況的觀察，若火焰熄滅，應即關閉燃氣開關，找出起因，排除故障，并待燃氣排盡后方可重新點燃；
（6）嚴禁在加熱過程中，熨平板處于無人看管狀態和向攤鋪機各部噴油清洗。
其次在攤鋪前，除了對機器本身各部分進行良好狀況的檢查外，還要根據施工要求做許多準備和調整工作。其項目有：攤鋪帶厚度的確定以及熨平板寬度的調整；熨平板拱度的調整；攤鋪厚度的確定與熨平板的初始工作迎迎角的調整；熨平板的加熱；工作速度的選擇與送料汽車配合數量的確定；自動調平裝置參考基準的準備。
